Booked a last minute stay here as after one night I decided I didn't want to stay in Christchurch for the second and this way roughly halfway between Christchurch and my next destination. Lovely little chalet. The check in was easy, everything was really clean and cosy. Fresh milk in the fridge which was a great touch. Dvds to borrow in the office if the weather is terrible, which it was for me! Super comfy bed and great hot shower

We went during winter and rushed from Christchurch airport to Arthur's Pass Alpine Motel right after collecting our rental car. After 2 hours of drive, we arrived at this lovely place, and Fi, the host, assisted us with the late check-in. She was kind enough to turn on the heater prior to our arrival, with the outdoor temperature of approximately 2 degrees celcius. Love the mountain views in the morning. The feeling to be surrounded by mountains with snowcaps was surreal. I was also able to spot a kiwi in the motel compound in the morning 💕. The stay was short but a memorable one.

The chalet and hostess Fi make me feel at home. She even offered to give me a lift to the tourist centre to keep my luggage there so i dont have to walk back for them. (The bus pickup is nearer there.) Not modern but clean and pretty well maintained. The idea of separate entrances to bathroom & shower area hv separate doors so they can be used at the same time by 2 users, but lack hooks and hangers in the shower area. Fixed shower head. There is a frosted glass at the sink/changing area so it feels uncomfortable. Great to the kitchen fully & equipped, down to the cutlery, cleaning detergent. Easy parking. washing machine available. Heater in the bedroom works but not the living room. Old style charging sockets (not usb) and plug extension wires so quite hard to charge phone in bedroom. No porch light Quieter as it is away fr main road but 10min fr city centre.

This is the only motel in Arthurs Pass, but it is a really great place to stay. The host was very friendly and helpful, and gave us lots of information. The apartment was cozy and warm, and had a nice seating area and kitchen area. It was very well appointed. I should note that the town area is very small, and the shop closes early, so there is nowhere to eat after 6pm or so. The apartment was very clean and quiet, and the area is wonderful - right inside the mountains. Many walks are close by.

Despite the rain (which prevented us from walking to lookouts), the surrounding trees and hills made our stay very pleasant as we looked out from the warmth of our comfortable family unit. We had brought food with us, so we used the more than adequate kitchen facilities to prepare meals - without having to venture out in the inclement weather. The journey out towards the west coast was extremely picturesque in the misty weather - as we drove very carefully along the steep, twisting road.

Loved this property in Arthur’s Pass! The lodge we stayed in had a comfortable double bed with heated blankets, a sofa, TV, DVDs (borrowed from reception), small dining table for two, a cooking area (stove tops), fridge, sink and cleaning supplies. The bathroom was small but well functional and had a powerful shower. Overall the lodge was very spacious for two people and we had a very comfortable stay. We were able to make use of the kitchen facilities too. The owners were very welcoming and gave us recommendations on local walks such as Devil’s Punchbowl.

The mattress was super comfortable, electric blanket also great. Shower had good pressure. Living area had comfortable seating as was the dining chairs. TV and DVD player all worked well and able to Bluetooth to my speaker. Heatpump more than sufficient. Great welcome and knowledge regarding safe tramping for the time of year. Also when I had issues with hotplate in kitchen someone came within a couple of minutes. Felt very welcome.

Pete and Fi are welcoming hosts, on hand to offer suggestions for the days walks and dinner plans. The motel is well positioned in the town, walking distance to everything, including train station and trailheads. Comfortable rooms with everything you need to self cater. Warm bedding and heaters for when the colder weather hits. Lovely benches outside on the grass to sit with a cold drink after a long hike, to listen to the bell birds and watch the bold robins. We had a great 2 days/nights here, thanks!
